Massage Mechanics Appointment Policies
At Massage Mechanics, it is our intention to provide our guests with professional and therapeutic services in a relaxing and friendly environment; we will cater each treatment to our client’s individual needs. The following policies and procedures serve as a guide for our first-time and repeating guests.
We strongly believe that your time is valuable, as is ours, and we make every attempt to be ready for your appointment at the scheduled time. In our commitment to provide a unique and outstanding experience to all of our clients, and out of consideration for our therapists’ time, we have adopted the following policies:
Arrival to Your Massage Treatment
Please arrive for your appointment several minutes prior to the scheduled starting time. This allows you the time to fill out the appropriate client form (new clients), and change and prepare for the service. All treatment sessions have a specific time schedule and early arrival allows for a relaxed and unhurried experience. If late arrival is inevitable, your service may be shortened in order to keep on schedule and the original treatment time may be charged.
Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. At your first visit with us you will be asked to sign the new client intake form, stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures. Clients who we have not seen for at least a year may also be asked to fill out this form again.
In order to help ensure that you obtain your desired appointments, we recommend scheduling your appointment as far in advance as possible to ensure availability. To accommodate your desired appointment a credit card is required at the time of booking to guarantee your reservation. Gift Certificates may also be used in lieu of a credit card to hold your appointment. We hold this information as part of our cancellation policies and only make necessary charges to your account on the date of your scheduled service. You may opt in to having a credit card stored securely through Square, our credit card payment system so that you do not have to give a credit card every time you make an appointment. Details of our cancellation and no-show policies are provided below.
*Please notify the receptionist of any allergies or sensitivities to aromas or ingredients when you schedule your appointment.
Cancellation Policy and Fees
Your therapy times are reserved exclusively for you. We value your business and ask that you respect the office scheduling policies. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 3 hours in advance.
Any late cancellations or reschedules with less than 3 hours of notice are subject to a late rescheduling fee of $40 ($20 for any sessions less than an hour in length). Clients who miss their appointments without giving any prior notification will be charged in full for the scheduled service. We recognize the time of our clients and staff is valuable and have implemented this policy for this reason. When you miss an appointment with us, our therapists not only lose your business, but also the potential business of other clients who could have scheduled an appointment for the same time. Additionally, many times our staff will be “on call” and may have traveled to the office specifically for your service. For these reasons, we are obligated to compensate our staff for their time.
All services require a credit card or gift certificate to guarantee a reservation so please have your credit card and/or gift certificate ready when booking. You will not be billed unless there is a late cancellation or no show. Upon checkout, guests may choose their method of payment and are not obligated to use their credit card for payment. You may also opt to keep a credit card on file with us, which will be stored safely via Square, our credit card payment system.
Late Arrival Policy
All treatment sessions have a specific time schedule therefore we regret that late arrivals may not receive extension of scheduled appointments. In special cases, and when our schedule will allow, we may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment. This will be at our discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival. If late arrival is inevitable, your service may be shortened and the original treatment time may be charged.
No Show Policy
At Massage Mechanics, we understand that unanticipated events occur in everyone’s life. Unforeseen events such as car problems, business meetings and children’s illnesses, are just a few reasons why one might consider canceling a massage appointment. However, we ask that you call or text if you cannot keep your appointment. Clients who miss their appointments without giving any prior notification will be charged the full appointment fee. For clients who chronically no show, you may be asked to pay the late rescheduling fee in advance of your appointment, whereupon you would only owe the remainder of the appointment fee at the time of service.
Discounts and Refunds
Discounts unfortunately cannot be combined. However, we are always happy to award you the larger of the discounts if you qualify for more than one!
Refunds for services rendered are not typically awarded. If you are not enjoying your massage we ask that you communicate with your therapist during your session so that they may accommodate your needs better. However, if after communicating with your therapist you are still unhappy with your service please contact us and the owner will follow up with you. It is our goal to provide not only excellent massage services but also a comfortable environment, and we are always striving to improve. If a refund is awarded it will be in the form of a gift certificate.
If you need a refund for gift certificates or other item purchases, please contact us within 90 days of your purchase.
Scope of Practice
Massage Mechanics therapists are Michigan licensed professionals.
Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.
Licensed Massage Therapists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions. Our therapist may refer you to a medical doctor for diagnosis or treatment. Our services are not intended as an alternative for proper medical attention for specific conditions. Please refer to a medical doctor for any specific condition which requires medical treatment.
Respect for Client Needs and Boundaries
Our Massage Therapists are happy to adjust pressure, temperature, musical volume, work longer on an area or move on if you request it. The client may choose to: leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort, refuse any massage methods, stop massage at any time. The client will always be modestly draped. Only the area being massaged will be undraped. The clients will be kept informed of the area to be massaged.
Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate, this includes remarks or advances that are suggestive in nature. Should a client try to initiate this kind of behavior, the therapist will immediately end the session and you will be charged for the full appointment fee.
Confidentiality and Conversation
We treat all client visits and conditions as confidential. As such, we will not discuss your visit with anybody outside of our staff without your express permission. You may choose to talk or not talk during the massage. Conversation will be guided by the client’s direction.
Existing and New Medical Conditions
It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage may be continued. The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions. For clients undergoing chemo and radiation therapies – Please note that we require a doctor’s note that states the doctor is aware of and agrees to the desired treatment.
